eMAG market analysis

eMAG.ro market analysis for a chosen category

Before you enter a category, find out who already sells there and on what terms. We collect data from public eMAG.ro listings sorted five ways, score the quality of competitor listings and turn it into a decision: which price bracket to enter, what visibility actually requires and where a gap is still open.

What it is

Selling on eMAG with no secrets

A market analysis is a report about one category on eMAG.ro: who sells there, at what prices, with how many reviews and how well the listings are prepared. It is not an audit of your account - we look at the category from the outside, exactly as the shopper and the eMAG algorithm see it.

The data comes from public category listings sorted five ways: by relevance, number of reviews, discount percentage and price - highest first and lowest first. That way the report shows both what eMAG promotes organically and what actually sells thanks to reviews or price.

You receive the report as a ready document to read in the browser - with tables, listing images, quality scores and an analyst comment under every ranking.

Scope

What the report contains

Every analysis follows the same structure - only the category and the number of products change.

01

Market summary

Average and median price, price range, competition level, leading brands and the share of FBE listings - the whole category in a few numbers.

02

TOP by relevance

The products eMAG shows first with no sorting applied. The closest picture of what the algorithm considers a good fit for the category.

03

TOP by number of reviews

Listings with the most reviews. They show how much social proof you need before you count in this category.

04

TOP by discount percentage

Who cuts prices and how deep. You can see whether the category runs on promotions or discounts change nothing without reviews.

05

Ranking by highest price

The top shelf of the category - the brands, materials and presentation used to justify a higher price.

06

Ranking by lowest price

The price floor below which the fight is about price alone. The reference point for your margin.

Data

What we show for every product

  • Image, full listing title and brand - exactly as the shopper sees them in the listing.
  • Price in RON and the number of reviews the listing has collected.
  • A 1-5 score for four parts of the listing: images, description, branding and completeness of product attributes.
  • The FBE flag (Fulfillment by eMAG) - whether that competitor handed logistics over to the platform.
  • Product attributes: colour, material, model and style - the basis for comparing assortments.
  • An analyst comment under every ranking: what the data means for entering the category.

All data comes from publicly available eMAG.ro listings on the day the analysis is produced.

Personalisation

A report written for your company, not a generic market overview

If you share details about your offer in the form, we compare the rankings with your situation and close the report with a strategic recommendation.

Your price bracket against the market

We check where your price lands in the category - in the crowded middle, below the price floor or in the premium segment.

Priorities for the start

An ordered list of actions: what to do from day one, what takes months to build and what is a waste of budget at this stage.

What to avoid

We point out the moves that do not work in this specific category - deep discounts without a review base, for example.

Company details are optional. Without them you still get the full market analysis, only without the recommendation part written for your assortment.

Report preview

What a finished analysis looks like

The report is not a data dump - under every ranking we write what follows from it. Below is a preview of the report's typical cards, using figures from the Perfumes category.

The preview is illustrative - the client's details have been removed. Anonymised excerpts of the examples are in the section below.

Categories

What we have already analysed

Analyses of selected eMAG.ro categories: price levels, depth of competition and the share of offers in FBE. Your category works the same way - only the numbers differ.

The same seven categories, ordered by the logistics bar. The spread is twentyfold: where almost nobody uses platform fulfilment, shipping yourself is not a disadvantage - where almost everybody does, it has to be compensated for. Click a category for the full set of figures.

Each of these analyses describes a category as a whole. Where your range lands in it, and which competing offers are poorly prepared, is what the full analysis shows.

Ordering several categories? The combined report comes free

A single report tells you what a category looks like. The combined report puts every category you ordered side by side and answers which one to start with.

  • Comparison table - average price, price range and level of competition for every category in one place.
  • Entry verdict - a clear recommendation per category: go in, test with a small batch, or skip it.
  • Potential and the axis of advantage - whether the category is won on brand or price, bundles or single units, design or function.
  • One document instead of several - the conclusions from the whole order in a single file, ready to show your board.

We add the combined report at no extra cost to every order covering at least 2 categories.

Who it is for

When a market analysis makes sense

  • You are considering eMAG.ro and want to make a well-informed decision before the first listing goes live.
  • You already sell on eMAG and plan to extend your assortment into a new category.
  • You are looking for a category with a real gap, not one where only the lowest price wins.
  • You need independent material for a budget decision or a conversation with the board.
  • You have listings on eMAG but do not know why competitors sell better at a similar price.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the market analysis

By three signals read together: how many reviews the offers at the top of the listing carry (a high median means a new offer will take a long time to catch up), the share of offers in FBE (a high share raises the delivery-time bar) and how wide the price range is (a narrow range usually means competition on price alone). Only all three together say whether there is still room - a single indicator taken alone is misleading.

Not directly - eMAG does not publish other sellers sales figures, and anyone claiming otherwise is estimating. We work with what is public and verifiable: review counts, position across listing sortings, price levels, presence in FBE and how well each offer is prepared. That is enough for an entry decision, but we call it what it is - demand signals, not sales numbers.

Start with what you already hold in stock and can ship reliably - sourcing new inventory for an unknown market is the most expensive way to run a test. Then check whether there is room to play: whether the top of the listing is held by global brands and the platform own retail offer, or rather by third-party sellers without recognisable brands. The second situation is a real opening for a well-prepared offer.

Competitor analysis answers how a handful of chosen sellers are doing. Market analysis looks at the whole category: price distribution, depth of competition, how visibility is built and the quality of the offers at the top. An enter-or-not decision needs the second picture - otherwise it is easy to copy a seller who is struggling themselves.

Beyond the cost of goods there is the sales commission, logistics, returns handling and the budget for the first campaigns, plus compliance obligations in some categories. The full calculation for a specific product is done in the eMAG profitability calculator.

It is a ready document to open in the browser - with tables, listing images and a comment at every ranking. You can save it or print it to PDF.

As standard, within 3 business days of the order being paid. For a custom scope we agree the deadline at the quoting stage.

Yes, you choose the Polish or the Romanian version. Product and brand names always stay in the original so you can find them on the platform.

A market analysis looks at the category from the outside and needs no access to your account. An account audit examines your listings, metrics and configuration from the inside.

Yes - the invoice is issued after payment and sent automatically by e-mail (e-invoice). Companies with a valid EU VAT ID outside Poland receive a reverse-charge invoice, without Polish VAT.
