Case study · eMAG catalogue put in order

An eMAG catalogue put in order and new product pages for over 150 lingerie and apparel listings

The TrendyUp brand sells lingerie, robes, pyjamas and hoodies on eMAG Romania and in its own store. The eMAG account had 310 listings, but the product pages were plain text with no graphics and no size charts, some listings sat inactive with stock on hand, and 16 listings had validation errors. In the "eMAG catalogue in order" stage, over 15 working days, we delivered an audit of the whole account, technical clean-up and a single graphic description template, which we used to describe 41 models and 156 listings.

Starting point

The client and the starting point

TrendyUp is a Romanian brand of women's lingerie and loungewear from Brașov: its own Shopify store and several years of selling on eMAG, a catalogue of around 85 products in over 200 size and colour variants.

The account audit found 310 listings in 9 categories. Listing descriptions were plain text - around 3.4 thousand characters on average, but zero images in the description; 185 listings had a description shorter than 500 characters and 196 had fewer than five photos. None of the 38 lingerie and nightwear models had a size chart or measurements. 16 listings had validation errors (13 times eMAG failed to fetch the photos, 3 times the wrong brand on the page), listings retired after EAN changes sat next to live ones, and four listings with stock on hand were inactive.

Instead of a retainer we agreed on a single stage, "eMAG catalogue in order", with a clear end: technical clean-up across all apparel (lingerie, robes, pyjamas, hoodies) and new product pages for every model in those categories.

What we did

Five steps from the audit to accepted product pages

01

Audit of the account and of catalogue page matching

We checked every one of the 310 listings: status, stock, price, RRP, validation errors, the commission pulled from the eMAG API per listing and which catalogue page its EAN leads to. 306 of 308 listings sat on the right page; two EANs pointed to another seller's pages in a completely different category - we flagged them "never send".

02

Technical clean-up

Reactivation of four robe listings with stock on hand (28 units back on sale), repair of listings with wrong prices and price ranges, brand corrected on pages from "OEM" to the client's brand, retired listings flagged, brand logo on listing pages, re-upload of photos eMAG had failed to fetch. Prices ending in .99 on every active listing. A standard S-XL size chart in centimetres (bust, waist, hips) agreed with the client, because no model had one.

03

One graphic description template for the whole category

We designed an editorial-style page - ivory and gold, typography chosen for reading on a phone - with the sections: an opener with parameters (set contents, sizes, colour), "Ce conține", "Croiul și materialul", "Detalii de construcție", "Ghid de mărimi", "Întreținere", "Când și cum se poartă", a gift block and "Despre TrendyUp". The template knows the product type: intimate lingerie gets a section on returns and hygiene plus "discreet shipping", robes and pyjamas do not, hoodies get no size chart.

04

Content for 41 models and 156 listings

Every model (colour) has its own page: 8-10 graphics, a photo gallery from the client's materials (up to 11 photos) and a title following one pattern (model, feature, brand, colour). The graphics live in the client's Shopify store files, so they are her property and do not depend on our server.

05

Sending in batches and checking that eMAG accepted the changes

Updates went out in batches by category, with a pilot on a single listing. eMAG can accept a submission and, a few minutes later, reject a photo or revert a title without any message, so every batch goes into an update log: we compare what we sent with what the page shows after an hour and after a day, and the fix is matched to the error (re-sending the photo, re-sending the title and attributes, or the whole listing). That is why "sent" means "accepted and visible" for us.

What this teaches

Lessons you can carry over to your brand

An eMAG page without graphics loses even against good copy. A shopper on a phone scrolls rather than reads - a good description is a set of sections that can be scanned.

Technical clean-up first, content second. Inactive listings with stock, validation errors and EANs on other sellers' pages cost sales no matter how good the page looks.

One template per category, not per product. The template has to know how lingerie differs from a hoodie, otherwise it lies: returns, discreet shipping, size chart.

The client's store is the source of truth. Attributes are added only with evidence; an empty field beats a made-up one.

"Sent" is not "accepted". eMAG rejects photos and reverts titles without any message, so every batch has to be checked after an hour and after a day.
