A Black Friday discount is not calculated from your list price. The reference point is CMMP 30 – the lowest price your product held over the 30 days before the campaign – and the WOW badge conditions add CMMP 60 on top. That changes everything: the discount you „deliver” in November is decided by the pricing moves you make in September and October. Below we break it down into a calendar, the typical mistakes and simulations on concrete numbers.

What CMMP 30 and CMMP 60 are

CMMP is short for the Romanian cel mai mic preț – lowest price. CMMP 30 is the lowest price of your product over the last 30 days, CMMP 60 – over the last 60 days. This is not about your regular price, the recommended one or the „crossed out” one from your price list: what counts is the lowest level your offer actually held within the given window.

The distinction sounds technical, but it has a very practical consequence. If your product sells at 200 RON and one September weekend it dropped to 160 RON, your base is no longer 200 RON. Every percentage point of discount eMAG will require from you in the campaign is calculated from the lowest point in the window – that is, from 160 RON.

Under the Black Friday 2026 on eMAG terms, CMMP 30 is the base for all discount thresholds, and CMMP 60 appears in the WOW badge criteria as an alternative to Price Index. That is why pricing discipline does not begin „before the campaign”, but exactly when both windows open – hence the entire calendar in this article.

Where these thresholds decide the money

CMMP comes back in three places in the campaign, each time with different stakes.

  • Entry threshold – for an offer to enter the campaign at all, a discount of at least 5% against CMMP 30 and at least 5 RON in absolute terms is enough. That is a low bar – deliberately so: deeper discounts are a condition for the bonuses, not for taking part.
  • Commission discount – eMAG returns up to 60% of the commission on campaign sales, and the size of the first component depends on the category group and on how deep you go against CMMP 30 (thresholds from 10% to 25%). The full table of thresholds and components is broken down in our hub on preparing offers for Black Friday – we deliberately do not repeat it here, so the numbers live in one place.
  • WOW badge – requires a discount from 15% (Standard products and above) to 25% (Super Cold) against CMMP 30, and when a product has no Price Index an alternative kicks in: a discount against CMMP 60, from just 5% for Standard and above.

The conclusion from this puzzle: the lower your CMMP base, the more expensive every threshold becomes. The same product with a stable price enters the campaign with a 15% discount calculated from the full price – while after an October clearance it has to drop by the same 15%, only from a level that was already reduced.

Pricing calendar: September, October, November

The campaign date is not confirmed yet – in our experience the most likely candidates are Friday 6 or 13 November, and preparations are planned for the earlier date. On that assumption, the pricing calendar looks like this:

Period What counts What you do with prices
until early September the last window for your own promotions You close out clearances and discount actions. Anything you still want to „mark down” this year before the campaign has to happen now
September the CMMP 60 window opens (for the earlier date scenario) You stabilise prices of WOW candidates. You list new products – for the „Lowest price of the year” badge the final call is 7 or 14 September
from 7 or 14 October the CMMP 30 window, performance and offer activity Zero downward moves. No promotions, vouchers or flash sales. Prices hold until campaign day
end of October the campaign file You calculate campaign prices from the now-known CMMP 30 base and enter them in the file. The last new offer with a chance to take part: 30 October or 6 November

Note the order: you calculate campaign prices last, when the base is already fixed. Sellers who in September „just push sales a little more” with one promotion end up in November calculating discounts from a low they created themselves. The daily routine of maintaining prices and stock is covered in our guide on updating offers on eMAG.

Pricing moves that raise your own bar

They all come down to one mechanism: you lower the base from which you are about to calculate your discount. See it in numbers. The product sits at 200 RON and you plan a 20% Black Friday discount:

  • With no pricing moves: CMMP 30 = 200 RON, campaign price = 160 RON.
  • After an October -20% promotion: CMMP 30 = 160 RON, campaign price = 128 RON. That same „20% discount” now costs you 72 RON per unit instead of 40 RON – and the customer sees exactly the same promise on the banner.

The most common variants of this mistake:

  • A clearance inside the CMMP 30 window – the classic: an October „last units” push right before the campaign.
  • Vouchers and „brand week” style actions – they lower the real selling price exactly like a regular markdown. We break down how these tools work in our guide to promotional and voucher campaigns on eMAG – use them deliberately and outside the window.
  • „I will raise the price before the campaign so the discount looks bigger” – it will not. CMMP is the lowest price in the window, not the current one. An October increase will not erase a September low; all it gives you is a worse Price Index and fewer sales in the very window your performance is calculated from.
  • A price war on a shared PNK – if you fight for the Buy Box with October price cuts, every drop is written into your history. Sometimes it is better to give up a few days of sales than to enter the campaign with a broken base.

Run your scenario before you put prices in the file

The commission discount sounds like compensation, but it only covers part of the price cut – in the example calculated in the hub, between a quarter and a third. Before you decide whether you are aiming at the 10% threshold, 20% or the full WOW conditions, run the balance on your own numbers. The calculator below checks the campaign conditions, assembles the commission discount and shows how many times more units you have to sell to break even. It starts with an Electro-IT example: base 300 RON, 20% discount, 15% commission.

Black Friday calculator

Work out whether a Black Friday discount pays you back

The calculator measures the discount from CMMP 30 - the lowest price of the last 30 days - exactly as eMAG does. It checks whether the offer qualifies, builds the commission discount from both components and shows how many units you need to sell for the promotion to break even. Amounts in RON, gross.

Price and discount

These three fields are tied together: price, discount and CMMP 30. Fill in any two and the third works itself out - and when you change CMMP 30, whatever you typed last is kept.

RON The discount base. NOT your catalogue price - every promotion in the last 30 days lowers this reference point.
RON The price the product goes into the campaign with.
% This one figure decides both entry to the campaign and the size of the commission discount.

If the product has no Price Index, WOW is measured against the discount versus CMMP 60.

The cash thresholds (5, 50, 100 and 5,000 RON) and the commission discount rates come from the eMAG terms for Black Friday 2026. The list of category exceptions and the list of categories covered by the WOW badge are published separately by eMAG - the calculator does not know them.

A separate league: the „Lowest price of the year” badge

This badge runs on a longer calendar than the rest of the campaign, which is why we treat it separately. There are two key conditions: the product must have been listed on eMAG at least 60 days before the campaign (so by 7 or 14 September), and the campaign price must be lower than the product’s lowest price across the whole year, counted from 1 January – and that means across all offers on the given PNK, not only yours.

Two conclusions follow for your pricing strategy. First, the decision „I am going for this badge” is made in September, together with listing the product – after that the door closes. Second, the price history on a shared PNK has to be checked before you calculate the price: if a competitor dropped once in March to a level you do not want to beat, this badge is not for that product – and it is better to know that now than in November.

Frequently asked questions

What is CMMP 30 on eMAG?

It is the lowest price of your product over the last 30 days (from the Romanian cel mai mic preț – lowest price). In the Black Friday campaign all discount thresholds are calculated against CMMP 30, not against your regular list price.

Does eMAG take my regular price into account?

Not in the context of discount thresholds. What counts is the lowest price in the 30-day window (and for part of the WOW conditions – 60 days). Your regular price matters commercially, but the base for campaign calculations is CMMP.

Can I raise the price before the campaign to give a bigger discount?

It will not work. CMMP is the lowest price in the window, not the current one – an increase does not erase an earlier low. What an October increase does give you is a worse Price Index and fewer sales in the window your product performance is calculated from.

How late can I run promotions without hurting Black Friday?

The safe limit is late August to early September. The CMMP 60 window opens at the beginning of September (for the earlier campaign date scenario), and the CMMP 30 window on 7 or 14 October. Every price cut inside those windows raises the discount bar you have to clear in the campaign.

Do vouchers lower CMMP as well?

Yes – a voucher changes the real selling price exactly like a markdown. If you are planning voucher actions, close them before the CMMP windows open, just like ordinary promotions.

What about competitors’ prices on the same PNK?

For discount thresholds, your own price history is what counts. The exception is the „Lowest price of the year” badge – there all prices at which the product was sold on eMAG since 1 January are taken into account, including those of other sellers. That is why you check the history of a shared PNK before deciding to go for this badge.

Take the next step

A pricing calendar is easiest to break unintentionally – with one discount action set up three weeks ago „just to test”. As part of our eMAG account audit we go through your price history, Price Index and offer performance and point out which products have a real shot at the commission discount thresholds and the badges.
